Duridge Beach party Saturday 5th August 2006
What I love about summer is the beach party’s. This latest gathering was at Duridge bay beach, Northumberland, and was arranged by the 'Tent Rock' lads. Kicking off a little later than expected, but still got going for around 7pm and considering the last band finished at 4.00am (as far as I remember) we had a good run. A beach party would not be the same without a slight disaster to remember it by, normally it is the fact it poured of rain all night or the tents all blew away or maybe even the police turning up to put an end to it all. Non of these were the case though, the weather was perfect and no complaints from neighbours, but one of the generators did decide to go on strike. This was rectified later by super generator man who turned up with a spare one and refused the fat lady a chance to sing. The show continued and 6 bands played in all. I finally left site at 12 noon sunday leaving the die hards still sitting round the singing bush listening to the last of the party music and one defient camper still asleep in a lone tent. we really need to have more of these events.

ENGINE
Back in the late 50s,rover brought from the states a v8 engine to fit into its portly and cumbersome cars, at the same time a stout rocker called Bill Haley helped out the genteel rock and roll revolution in GB.
6 decades on and while the v8 has powered progressively sleeker and more aggressive cars, and grown in size and power, rock and roll has changed beyond recognition into a beast of a thing with many heads, some of the beasts breeding and putting out babies that should be thrown back into the cess pool, the odd one crawling back and savaging the luckless midwife till they have a proper listen and have to admit "bugger me that is a real rock band, its just hardly recognisable doctor"
ENGINE is such a beast..motorhead sorted out the slits and spawned this growling monster.. get in at the birth..who knows how long this will survive!!

EL BISTRO
Possibly the thinnest band currently on the circuit of north east gigs at the mo, EL BISTRO can punch well above their weight when belting out pop punk/Indy songs that they specialise in.between shouting abuse at each other in a fine rock and roll tradition( is there any brothers in here?) they show maturity on stage way beyond the 6 month or so they have been together...they must have formed at around 12 years old i guess!
looking like a juvenile New York Dolls, but with smiles, and having tried to emulate them in the drinking stakes prior to going on (a three hour delay didn’t help..generator broke down),the band still fired through a set of great pop tunes with shouting harmonies and grating bass...keep it up..you could be contenders!!
